As a life-long Alaskan, and veteran pilot/guide with over 45 years flying and guiding in Alaska, I can assure you the best possible fishing trip. Some people are confused by our lodge name. Valhalla is Nordic for the legendary paradise of the Vikings, and hence I chose that name, being of Norwegian descent. I built Valhalla Lodge in 1980 on family property at the headwaters of the finest trout & salmon fishing in southwest Alaska.
Alaska Safari, Inc. (my owner company of Valhalla Lodge, Inc.) was incorporated in 1959, by my father Ward Gay, the year Alaska became the 49th state. To save money, the new state government used its old Territorial government stationery, typing in "State" over "Territory" on the Articles of Incorporation for Alaska Safari Inc! Check out our History for more information on our lodge operation.—Kirk Gay, Owner/Operator
